Back From Wausau.

Claudia and I have returned from Wausau. Our main purpose there was to join another death vigil. One of our friends was diagnosed with cancer last year and he is now near death. He looked better than I expected and is still lucid (other friends say he looks a fair amount worse than just last week). I saw they have him on a morphine drip so it must be fairly close. We also visited with some other friends and they are fine and doing well and looking at buying another house.

We became aware of today's big story in the hospital. Somewhat fitting.

One finds themselves being sad at times but God has decided he needs a new tool and we must accept that. What are we but tools in the hands of God? Pope John Paul II served admirably and stood by for what is right and decent. He was a great leader who stood for God's truth.

Now we await for God to choose a new leader not just for the Catholic Church but for the world.

One last note. In WWII it is reported that when asked about having the Pope intervene in something, Stalin facetiously asked his aide the number of divisions the Vatican deployed. How ironic, Pope John Paul II's leadership undermined and brought an end to world's most active proponent of the tyranny that is communism. The Pope was God's field commander and his divisions were that of saints and angels.

May God Bless and Forgive You your sins, Pope John Paul II.
