Exercising.
It is well known President Bush is extremely fit. He places a great emphasis on physical fitness and for good reason. The President leads by personal example when it comes to exercise.
Our society is worried about the consequences of our growing lack of national physical fitness. For good reason. Studies do show that a lack of physical fitness leads to a plethora of medical problems. You all should know what they are. In addition, I find life a whole lot more pleasent when I am fit. I sleep better, I have more energy during the day etc. The left also quite clearly sees the costs an unfit society has to bear.
However, asking people to take personal responsibility for their health choices is too much. The first manifestation of this attitude came to the fore with Southwest Airlines. Recall, if you were deemed too large to be contained by one seat Southwest Airlines made you pay for another seat. The left went crazy on that.
I have seen fat-groups constantly harp and complain how many things cost more for them. Well of course, because you require more! Yes, your shirt is going to cost more because it uses twice the fabric. Spill over into another seat and you should pay for it. If you don't like then lose weight.
The left recognizes the danger but instead of making sure individuals are aware of the costs of their choices they work to hide the costs. Nationalized health care is one such hiding.
Hey, I can eat five big-macs & five large fries per day and then when I get fat and need a new knee the government will pay for it! Hot dog!
Also on the left's agenda are fat taxes and outright regulation.
When the President's office announces his level of fitness instead of applause and exhorting people to emulate the president this is what we get.
Hat tip Michelle Malkin.
