Diyos Ko Naman!

Which essentially means "My God" in Filipino (aka Tagalog aka Philippino, please I will not entertain P&Ming about my spelling of Filipino here, I will spell it one way and group A will P&M I spell it the other then group B P&Ms).

Willie Galang talks about the increasing number of assassination and coup threats in the Filipines. Not just from Abu Sayyaf, the New People's Army (NPA) et al but from respectable political figures in the land.

Seen on local newscasts last Friday, a retired police general, in what looked like an ambush interview, publicly threatened President Arroyo with “bloodshed” unless she steps down -- the reporters just stood there dumbfounded not knowing how to follow-up. Looks like we’re all in for new rounds of coup attempts. If the opposition manages to succeed in overthrowing the administration, believe me, this vicious cycle will never end. [emphasis added]

Plotters in the Philippines, do you hear Mr. Galang? Totoo iyan (It's true)!

As for what I think about this, I think if there was someone capable to take over then GMA should leave or be impeached but the shakers and agitators behind this movement consist of former President Estrada (who was ousted by his own corruption), Imelda Marcos, the widow of the GMA's opponent in the last election, and former president Corazon Aquino.

Unfortunately, GMA's admin has been marred by corruption as well. None in the opposition promise anything better. The only Filipino President of late who has any credibility is Fidel Ramos and he is too old now.

The opposition may deny it, but they are disapointed there has been no Edsa III. Can you blame them? Trade one set of on the take politicos for another? As The Who sings "meet the new boss, just same as the old boss."
