Wal Mart Society

Is a consequence of leftist utopianism.

Why do I say this? The left is fond of foisting burdensome requirements upon business. Mandatory health coverage, high minimum wages, non-discrimination, taxes, anti-sexual harassment, whistle-blower, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Now, in order to be able to comply with the volumes of regulations an employer needs a few things. Namely lots of cash to hire the following lawyers, accountants, human resource specialists, lobbyists etc (in addition to the normal operating expenses made ever higher by government mandates). Does a small mom and pop shop have the capital to be able to hire all of those specialists let alone meet their normal operating expenses (made every higher by government mandates)? Maybe but it puts them closer and closer to the edge of survival so when a big company like Wal Mart comes to town with its ability to afford lawyers, a human resources dept., an accounting department etc etc etc they small shop is pushed over the edge all the more easily.

In a society where big government regulates almost every facet of business life, expect only big business to survive.
