Felons and Guns

Al-Pazeera is running a story on how the Heller case has spawned challenges to laws prohibiting felons from owning guns. I suspect such challenges will fail and I also suspect such challenges ARE and have been routine. What is new, is the need to discredit the Heller case and the gun grabbers are using this case to do just that.

The Constitution recognizes the need to deprive people of their liberties under certain circumstances, but says the government MUST follow due process to curtail a citizen's liberties. The government has a well established due process to declare a person a felon and deny them the right to guns and to vote (as well as incarcerate & fine, & all that jazz). In the same fashion there is a process to petition to have those rights restored.

In short, the Heller ruling will not affect laws prohibiting felons from owning guns; the gun-grabbers are hyping the cases in order to scare people.

Stop It Already!

I direct that to Brett Favre.

Either announce unambiguously you want to play again with the Packers, somewhere else, or confirm you really are retired. You have stood up in front of the glare of the klieg lights explaining your glorious and inglorious moments and you broke down when announcing your retirement, so why now skulk about?

I was saddened by your announcement to resign, I thought you had another good year in you and the management could have done their off-season work with an eye to stock up in such a way to complement you and keep the Packers viable in the future years. You are now becoming what I consider the likes of Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Johnny Estrada, Latrell Sprewel, et al a cancer to team morale.

Dennis Krause said it well in a discussion with Bill Michaels today on WTMJ. The Green Bay Packers existed before you came to town and will carry on even after you have gotten off your fence in Kiln Mississippi.

I was saddened by your decision to call it a career, but am really starting to look forward to Aaron Rodgers.
