Libby Indicted.

As expected from last night's reports Lewis "Scooter" Libby has been indicted for making false statements to the grand jury. It seems the focus is on the statement where he first learned of Plame's identity as an employee of the CIA. So announces Fox News.

This is far from the wild rantings of "treason" the left has been screaming, much closer to Martha Stewart than to Ethel Rosenberg.

Also, indictment does not mean guilt and denial of ones liberties. The government now has to prove in a court that Libby's statement was intentionally false. Of course, the left just assumes the guilt here and quite honestly they can believe in pink winged unicorns too.

So now that charges have been announced and are much less what the left was hoping for what is going to be their line? Fitzgerald is a Rovian plant? Fitzgerald was bullied (the same man who prosecuted the Dapper Don aka John Gotti)?

Hey Al Franken, no one is going to be executed in this case, and even if this reporting is off no one is going to be executed or charged with outing Plame.

One last note.

National Review's Jonah Goldberg notes at The Corner
You know that ancient saw (told in a zillion different ways so please don't email me your favorite version) about how the optimist is the kid who gets a pile of horse manure for Christmas and declares "there's got to be a pony in here somewhere!"

Well, truly that is a Fitzmas parable now for all concerned.
