The Sophomoronism of the GWOT Critique.

By GWOT I mean the Global War on Terror.

A few people (we all know a few of these I am sure) like to talk about how the phrase Global War on Terror is a silly phrase as terrorism is a tactic and we are fighting an ideology. Well, no kidding Plato.

Yes, you have to understand GWOT as being delivered with a wink-wink nudge-nudge. Why? As I have argued repeatedly, many Muslims will not hear A war on Islamic Radicalism instead they will hear A war on Islam...blah-blah-blah-blah and we will turn many people who would support the cause of quashing the Taliban, Al-Qaida, etc over to the Taliban, Al-Qaida etc.

From time to time at a particular blog I read and comment on regularly one commentator likes to pretend he is Mr. Lets Kick @$$ against the Islamic radicals. However, he can not stop carping against the President because the President supposedly has no plans, and because the President typically refers to the fight as the GWOT. I suspect this fellow is lot less eager to fight against Islamic radicalism than what he fronts. In a recent discussion about what is happening in France he tips his hand as being a leftist, he is trying to sound tough without having to be tough, a toothless dog.
