On Sunday

It really is soaking in, Packer wins in Lambeau Field even during the cold and important games are not inevitable. This is the second time in recent history the Packers have had their post-season play ended in Lambeau Field.

While, good play is the most important factor, the psychological aspects of games is important too. The Packers, during the Holmgren era, were unbeatable at home.

So, was the season a catastrophe? No, reaching the conference championship is not a trivial feat it is a feat. Prior to the season I voted in an online poll and called the Packers to go 11-5. I admit it, I am a homer and my glasses are green and gold. I thought I was being highly optimistic in my prognostication. However, that was not so crazy.

The Packers started off the season without a running game. They have a solid base from which to improve their running game now. Yeah our game was shut down on Sunday, but the week before he ran for 208 yards, not easy against any defense in the NFL.

This year also had the return of the Packer's screen play. Last year the screen had problems pulling away from their starting positions and getting set up. More than once last year I saw them tripping over each other, saw some real purty screen plays this year. The Giants did a great job of blowing those up on Sunday.

With essentially the same team, the Packer's are going to have an improved running and screen play games. This will be coach McCarthy's third season with the same team.

The defense needs to shore up the front line. Manning had way too much time and the Giants ran at will.

What positions do the Packers need to draft for?

Stick That Up Your Donkey!

Heck yeah!

What a great way for the Packers to finish that game, one play 80 some yards TD! Good game, the Packers make a game close again. They are a good team but not a great one.

I Just Heard

The tail end of a WTMJ conversation with Jim Irwin, Max's partner in the broadcast booth. Brave man, as Jim was clearly and notably sad probably fighting back tears and similar.

MAX!

Max McGee former Packer and Packer broadcaster is dead. Apparently, he was cleaning his gutters & roof and fell off from his roof. I will miss him and have missed his and Jim's presence from Packer radio since they left.

Max McGee holds the distinction of scoring the first touchdown in the first Superbowl and the story as I recall was he did not expect to get any game time so snuck out of the hotel after curfew & bed check. He went out and partied it up. He was on the sidelines nursing a hangover when Vince Lombardi yelled MAX! and Max went out and played, and played well.

Of late Max's only presence in Packer Nation was as a spokesman for various products and services, still he will be missed.

Packers Out With a Bang!

The Packers to to their homes for the post-season but do so with a win over the Bears.

I think the Packers were on an uptick and this makes me feel better about the new coach. Let the Favre retirement speculation begin!

Packers Out!

The Packers are officially, mathematically, and utterly out of this years championship playoffs. Of course, we knew it was going to be a reach.

When the Packers start to find ways to win instead of lose then we will once again believe they are genuine playoff contendors.

I was hoping it would happen, but of course did not expect it or did I feel they deserved a chance.
