The River War Rages.

Wretchard at the Belmont Club is commenting on the latest events in Iraq. He pieces together a couple of things and speculates a large operation is being conducted by Coalition against the forces of terror.

Wretchard laments the facts the MSM views the terrorists as perpetually on the offensive and our forces perpetually defending. The reporters line of questioning
...suggests a tendency -- perhaps only a rhetorical tendency -- to assign the role of the offensive to the enemy. The fact that fewer Americans have been recently killed is put down to the fact that the enemy has stopped targeting them. Gen. Ham suggests that the Americans died because they were operating against an enemy stronghold.

Now, the enemy is capable and indeed adapts, they after all have the same capacity for learning as we do. The fact of the matter though is as long as we are operating against the enemy we will lose soldiers.

According to the press conferences and other quotes, Wretchard speculates a large operation is going on, and the details are sketchy. This area has long been a favorite source of blogging material for Wretchard. This line is important for the terrorists they are going to defend it and we must interdict it.
