Tapos Na Order 1017.

Philippine Presidential Order 1017 has been rescinded. The link is to DJB Rizalist's Philippine Commentary where he discusses this and what he believes to be the effects of the order. One may discern very quickly that DJB is a rather staunch opponent to PGMA (President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo). DJB is no leftist and takes a very strong stand in the WOT and one of the (the best, IMO) reasons he opposes PGMA is because of the taint around her and her administration maker her politically weak and quick to give into the leftist demands of appeasement.

Many feared this was a Marcos moment. She had an excuse to implement the order and things would only get more and more strict from here that order 1017 was going to live on past the crisis. There is plenty of time and opportunity in the future for a Marcos Moment but it is not now and Order 1017 passed when the crisis was over.

Like PGMA or not, it is clear she is not stepping down on her own and will push back if pushed. It is notable to see the Philippino Peso is resuming its upward trend (in the chart you view the downward trend indicates the Peso is becoming more valuable in comparison to the US Dollar. In this case going down is a good thing).
