President Clinton is speaking out on - HEALTH!
Well, that is good as our leaders need to - lead. Unfortunately, President Clinton decides good health is not, dear reader, up to you. Oh-no.
While on the stepper this morning (working out) I caught highlights of a Clinton News Network (CNN) interview with President Clinton. They were talking about his health problems and how he is mending his ways.
Then the question was put to him. Who is repsonsible for correcting the "obesity crisis" our nation is undergoing. Guess what. Individuals getting off of their @$$#$ did not figure in the answer. Government mandated top-down solutions were called for.
Now, I am not so down on restrictions in the schools. Many of these are placing restrictions on vending machines and on lunches served. Our children are in school to learn and we must teach them soda and candy are treats not for regular and frequent consumption.
However, once we get into the realms of adult choices then the government must stay out. If I want to go to McDonalds and have a three-cheeseburger, large fries, soft-drink dinner then the government has no business interfering with that.
Mind you, the government then has no obligation to funding my healthcare when after years of daily three cheeseburger, large fries, soft-drink dinners I get fat and need new knees or angioplasty.
So President Clinton will talk about the need for a healthy lifestyle and government management of our individual diets, and President Bush works out and sets an example for us. Who gets exalted and who gets ripped on?
