You're a Real Eight-Ball Man!

Today's Eight-Ball winner is real clueless. Lets dive right and see what he has to say.
I have a few suggestions for those people who support the president and his newly discovered authority to spy on American citizens without judicial oversight.

Why stop with only spying on potential "terrorists"? If this is being done for our protection, then why not expand its scope to include other potential criminal elements within our society?

Mr. Boggs you grossly misrepresent the wiretapping program. Don't worry I will not call you a liar because I know you have been so badly misinformed by people who at the root of it all are lying about the wiretapping program.

Let us say known Terrorist X living in Afghanistan (which the wiretaps focus on) calls person J in the good ole USofA. Now, could it be because Terrorist X wants to know how Person J's family is and what the weather is like? Possible, yes. What else could it be? Could it be that Terrorist X is plotting with Person J? If Person J is plotting with Terrorist X then he is an enemy and I have no problems with busting him based on the tap. If Person J is just talking about the weather or even if he committed a garden variety crime (by garden variety I do not mean a harmless crime but the type that does not amount to plotting to attack the USA) then the tap should be ignored. However, if Person J is talking about blowing up a shopping mall, he should be forthwith arrested and dealt with by the military. Unconstitutional? Rubbish, read the details of this case known as Ex-Parte Quirin a case arising from WWII where a citizen of the United States was executed by the military for conspiring to commit sabotage in the United States. Not only did the Supreme court rule the citizen had self-revoked his citizenship but citizenship was irrelevant in this case.

That is if you are a US Citizen and you act with the enemy against the US you are the enemy and are subject to military action. A further implication of the ruling is that FDR as the Commander in Chief was within his constitutional powers to act against US Citizens acting as enemy agents and attempts by congress to limit or alter those powers are in themselves unconstitutional!

We could begin by having the NSA wiretap all conversations between paid lobbyists and elected officials. This could potentially limit all forms of government corruption.

The government might also want to think about monitoring the conversations of the top CEOs.

Recent history shows you never know when one of these champions of industry might be conspiring to defraud investors or underfund the company pension plan while lining their own pockets. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

If you think about it, you could almost make a case that conversations between priests and their dioceses are prime targets for surveillance, since some of them are now charged with a conspiracy to cover up the sexual abuse of children.

I guess it all comes down to trust. It's never wise to blindly trust politicians of any ideology. Language can be manipulated. You can say that the United States does not torture detainees, by simply changing the legal definition of the word "torture." In a sense, it might make the statement "true," but it doesn't make the conduct right.

The president can assert that the government does not spy on "innocent" Americans, but until he allows judicial oversight of his opinion about who is and is not innocent, the word itself holds little meaning.

There are inherent risks associated with freedom. These rights were not granted without struggle and should not be forsaken out of fear.

The rest of the letter, as you can see, is just the continuation of idiocy. The reason Mr. Boggs the ideas you suggest are not done is because THEY UNLIKE THE FIRST ITEM YOU BRING UP are unconstitutional and an abuse of our rights.

Congratulations Mr. Boggs on the winning of your first Eight-Ball!
